- Drones. Air Street Capital Submission to the UK government’s Strategic Defence Review – trying hard to help tech grow. Evolving geopolitics: China announced sanctions on US firm Skydio for selling drones to Taiwan (only customer was National Fire Agency). For many drone players supply chain is vulnerable and involves China, therefore Monopulse (Scalewolf portco) chose to only source from trusted suppliers. RSI Europe has delivered the first batch of FPV drones, called Shpak, to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Unmanned Defense Systems participated in a live-fire exercise, simulating an aerial threat to test vessel defences. MoD decided to allow purchasing drones locally without tendering, aiming to help local drone producers grow faster. - Sustainable. Margarita with BAETA Carbon Solutions took the win in the University Startup World Cup finals. With BAETA, they are transforming plastic waste into CO2 sorbents for sustainable carbon capture. Estia writes about The Consumerisation of Climate – for many consumer-facing startups to think. Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. is an American manufacturer of electronic components, founded in 1962 by Felix Zandman, a Polish-born Holocaust survivor. The company specializes in discrete semiconductors and passive electronic components. Revenues of approx $3.4 billion and 23,500 people globally.
- Felix Zandman was born on May 7, 1928, in Grodno, which is now part of Belarus. He survived the Holocaust and later moved to France, where he pursued studies in physics and engineering. In 1962, he founded Vishay Intertechnology with financial support from his cousin. The company was named after Zandman's ancestral village, Veisiejai, located in present-day Lithuania, as a tribute to his heritage and the memory of those who perished during the Holocaust.
