work in progress
- Social app. Joiner App hits 25,000 users and officially launched in Poland. Joiner is there to connect people for other reasons than dating – and that's not the only way Tinder is loosing ground. In Spain, dating is happening in supermarkets. The other vector, in NYC, apparently are running clubs – WISL app, opportunity for you. P.S. list of all sports tech ventures in the Baltics.
- Digital twin. Estonian Grid Raven recently secured funding to help power grids. Fast-growing Bisly developed smart building systems to help developers. Recently started by Rihards (LV) and Nojus (LT) in Amsterdam, Playground is a platform guiding cities and all kind of development projects – like the idea!
- House. LT is now the second largest exporter globally of wooden houses, so what's the opportunity? Ivan will drop a marketplace for prefabs. Now if your house or apartment is not being exported, CityNow launched automated real estate valuation tool relo.lt. It is targeting home buyers seeking mortgage, brokers and financial institutions (20% discount with code "philomaths" for you guys).
- Defence. In interview with Edvinas Kerza (Scalewolf, in LT), he mentions another EUR 250m has been allocated for a "defence instrument", which will include investments into startups outside LT. Estonia is planning EUR 50m fund. Polish VCs want more venture capital in the space (see event in Oct). And German startups find themselves in Lithuania, following military exercises.
- AI. Aleph Alpha is pivoting, expectation adjustment. Such Much AI joins Techstars batch in San Diego. Clarus.AI wants to assist insurers in everyday work.
- People. Gabriele decides to leave HEARTFELT. Davis becomes CEO of Mapon in Latvia. Arbonics enters Lithuania, hires Justas (ex-Foros). Ieva is looking for B2B sales role. Raminta is joining CyberUprade. Giedrius Martusevicius appointed as the CEO of Satimed.
